DOMUS IL GRILLAIO is an apartment located right in the center of Matera, near less than 50 meters from Piazza Vittorio Veneto, which is the main square of Matera where there is the very famous view of the Sassi. Immediately below the apartment you can find all city services such as restaurants, pizzerias, bars and supermarkets.
All the original furnishings of the apartment have been deliberately kept, this is because the idea of Domus Il Grillaio is to allow you to live a real experience in an original context where every single detail makes you relive moments of those 60-70s when people lived, studied on paper books, dreaming of being able to realize themselves in the future doing this or that job they fell in love with during the path of their lives lived in this apartment.
Domus Il Grillaio is an apartment, then, with an ancient flavor that evokes moments lived as a family in times that were not always easy but still allowed them to live with dignity and pursue their ideas and dreams.
From one of the two balconies it is possible to glimpse the Cathedral of the Madonna della Bruna and the panorama of the Sassi di Matera , a UNESCO heritage site since 1993. The Sassi of Matera and the Park of the Murgia of Matera reflect a very ancient cultural tradition; they represent an architectural complex with a millenary continuity of habitation as well as a perfect symbiosis between natural and human activity, in a vulnerable context subject to irreversible transformations.
A short walk from one of the entrances to the Sassi makes it possible to get around the entire central part of Matera without needing a car; in addition, the proximity to the Matera Centrale train station, which is less than 50 meters from the apartment, also makes it possible to arrive by train of the Ferrovie Appulo Lucane.

Apartment fully furnished in original 60s/70s style (not replicas) and comes with linens and towels.
The name Domus Il Grillaio derives from the Falco Grillaio, a splendid bird that periodically populates the skies of Matera by nesting on the rooftops, and from one of the two balconies of this apartment it is possible to admire the flight of this bird as it soars freely through the skies of the City.
